City of Coralville Employment Opportunity: Site Manager - Wickham Before and After School Program

Searching for a Site Manager at Wickham Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year. Duties include:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate before and after school activities under limited supervision. 
  • Plan monthly snack/activity schedule and ensure supplies are available on a weekly basis.
  • Timesheets bi-weekly
  • Communicate with parents and recreation building staff as appropriate.
  • Monitor the direction of cleanup of the facilities at the conclusion of each day.

Available hours:

  •  Before School: 7:00 a.m. – 7:50 a.m. Monday - Friday 
  •  After School:     2:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday
  •  After School:    1:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. (4.25 hrs.) Thursday
  • No Weekends
  • Must be able to open 4 mornings and work 4 afternoon shifts)
  • This is located at Wickham Elementary, 601 Oakdale Blvd. Coralville, IA

Qualifications

Great experience for majors in elementary education, recreation, or a related field. Enthusiasm and energy to keep up with kids! High School Diploma and one-year experience working with kids is a plus.

Oakland Cemetery's main entrance closed June 5-7 for maintenance

IOWA CITY -- The main entrance of Oakland Cemetery, off of Brown Street, will be closed for maintenance beginning Monday, June 5, 2023. It is anticipated that the main entrance will reopen on June 8. Access to the cemetery will be available at the Reno Street entrance throughout the project.

Those who need to access the cemetery office during the project are asked to call staff in advance at 319-931-6560.

The Iowa City Police Department was awarded CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation for the seventh time in March 2021. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., also known as CALEA, was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of major law enforcement executive associations.

The purpose of CALEA's Accreditation Program is to improve the delivery of public safety services by maintaining a body of standards developed by public safety practitioners that covers a wide range of up-to-date public safety initiatives, while also establishing and administering an accreditation process, and recognizing professional excellence.


Coralville Transit Layover Change for Iowa Arts Festival

Coralville TransitDue to road closures for the Iowa Arts Festival in Iowa City, Coralville Transit will not serve the following stops all day on Friday and Saturday, June 2-3, 2023:

  • Downtown Iowa City interchange (stop #0001)
  • Iowa Memorial Union (stop # 0125)
  • Macbride Hall (stop # 0120)

All routes will be diverted to E. Court Street between Clinton and Capitol Streets (1 block west of the Court Street Transportation Center) in Iowa City for layovers. No other stops are scheduled to be affected. Service delays are anticipated, and any changes to service will be posted at www.coralville.org/transit.

Route changes, road closures, and traffic delays will make predicted bus arrival times on the Transit app inaccurate on June 2-3, however, the real-time maps on the Transit app with actual bus locations will be accurate and should be used to locate buses. 

Normal transit service and predicted arrival times on the Transit app will resume on Monday, June 5. The bus interchange in downtown Iowa City will return to its normal location at Clinton and Washington Streets on Monday, June 5 as well.  For more information, contact Coralville Transit at 319.248.1790.
