Be aware of road and parking impacts for Summer of the Arts Soul & Blues Festival

The City of Iowa City will be closing a section of Iowa Avenue for the Soul and Blues Festival this weekend.

The annual music festival organized by the Summer of the Arts brings with it live soul and blues performances and activities for the whole family. This year's event will take place in Downtown Iowa City from Friday, July 30, to Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Road closure and parking impacts

Iowa Avenue from North Dubuque to South Linn Street will be closed beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, and will reopen to traffic late Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Parking meters on Iowa Avenue between Dubuque and Linn streets will be marked with "No Parking" signs before the event. Cars in violation of these regulations will be towed beginning at 11 a.m. Friday. Metered spots in this area do not allow parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. and these parking regulations will be enforced. Follow all posted parking signs to prevent your vehicle from being towed.

In addition to reduced street parking, some ramp and lot parking will be reserved for festival vendors, artists, performers and service vehicles. Look for posted signs indicating restricted parking. No transit changes will be needed to accommodate this event.
