CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – The Cedar Rapids Police Department received a request to conduct a welfare check of the occupant of 508 B Avenue NW when it was reported that the individual could not be reached.
The request for the welfare check was received on Friday, May 22 at 9:53 a.m. A police officer arrived at the residence a short time later and could see through a window that the victim was laying on the floor inside the home. The officer made entry into the home and determined that the victim was deceased.
Investigators and a representative of the Linn County Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently arrived on scene. The circumstances of the death are considered suspicious.
This is an active investigation. The name of the adult male victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The victim will be transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for an autopsy.
