Police seeking assistance after animal bite

IOWA CITY -- On August 23rd Iowa City Animal Services received notification of a citizen who was bitten by a dog. According to the information provided, the bite occurred on the side walk on Burlington St. between Van Buren and Johnson St. The victim was walking and stopped to pet the dog who was being walked by its owner. The dog is described as a black and tan German Shephard with erect ears being walked by a white male.  The bite occurred on Friday August 23rd at 1:30 in the morning.

Iowa City Animal Services is seeking information if anyone has details on the dog. Animal Services needs to verify the dog is current on the rabies vaccination.  This will keep the victim from having to go through the rabies shot series.  If anyone has any information about the identity of the dog owner, they are encouraged to contact Iowa City Animal Services directly at 356-5295 ext. or The Iowa City Police Department at (319) 356-6800.
