CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – Effective Monday, October 1, at 9:00 a.m., Oakland Road NE will be fully closed to traffic between 29th Street and 32nd Street, for approximately one month, weather permitting. The closure is part of ongoing work taking place on Oakland Road, and will include water main, storm sewer, and asphalt resurfacing.
Oakland Road will remain open to one lane of traffic between J Avenue and 29th Street during this work (Oakland Road is currently a one-way street heading northbound).
Toward the end of October, Oakland Road NE will transition from one-way to two-way traffic between H Avenue and 32nd Street.
Oakland Road Project Summary
Improvements on Oakland Road NE are taking place between 32nd Street and 29th Street. The road will be reduced to one lane, northbound only for a majority of the project. Work includes utility replacements, surface improvements, and later this fall the conversion from one-way to two-way traffic between H Avenue and 32nd Street. The project is scheduled to be completed this construction season.
