Local youth to play ICPD in annual basketball game

Local junior high and senior school students will challenge member of the Iowa City Police Department to a friendly basketball game during the department's third annual “Do You See Me Now?” competition.

The game begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert St., and will be followed by a discussion and dinner, provided by the Police Department.

The event is part of Iowa City Parks and Recreation’s Teen Dynamics program, introduced to provide teens with opportunities for positive interaction, education, relationship building, and activities during summer break. The program is held Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. also at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center. Enrollment for Teen Dynamics is open, ongoing and can be completed online. There is no fee to participate in the program, but a parent or guardian should accompany participants on the first evening they attend to fill out additional registration forms.

For program details, contact Recreation Program Supervisor RaQuishia Harrington at or call 319-356-5228. For information about the basketball game contact Community Outreach Officer Henri Harper at or 319-356-5279.
