Lib Con at ICPL on Aug. 11

Lib Con, the Iowa City Public Library’s first-ever comic con, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, throughout the Library building.

Tour Artist Alley to check out and buy local comic books and art, enter the Fandom Room to make a creation from your favorite fandom, listen to speakers talk about cosplay and creating comic books, join a super hero storytime, take pictures using our green screen, watch anime, have your face painted in the Tween Space, or join Critical Hit in the Digital Media Lab to play board games and video games. Daydream Comics will be on hand for all your comic needs.

Lib Con is free and open to all ages. Attendees are encouraged to attend in their favorite costume. We’ll give away prizes for the best dressed in all age categories. Judging will take place at 1:30 p.m. with the winners announced immediately after. Winners must be present to collect their prize.

Additionally, there will be a free screening of “Wonder Woman” at Film Scene, 118 E College St., at 3:30 p.m. Tickets will be distributed an hour before show time. There will be a discussion following the movie. Lib Con is made possible by the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation.
