The 26th annual Iowa City Aerohawks Air Show will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, at the Aerohawks Flying Field located adjacent to the Iowa City Landfill, 300 Hebl Ave. SW.
There is no admission fee and plenty of free parking.
The show features more than 100 model aircraft, exciting demonstrations and flying matches, in addition to aerobatics, warbirds from WWI and WWII eras, Golden Age aircraft, a factory sponsored air show helicopter pilot demonstration, jet turbine flights and even a candy drop for the kids. Aerohawks members will also be on hand to answer questions about model airplanes and the hobby of flying radio-controlled model aircraft.
Food and refreshments will be available at family prices. No carry-in food or beverages. Bleacher seating is available, but fills up quickly, so bring lawn chairs and blankets.
Grounds open at 11 a.m. Follow the signs 2.5 miles west of West High School on Melrose Avenue, or 2 miles west of the Melrose Avenue interchange off Highway 218.
