Bank Robbery in Coralville

Thursday afternoon, April 20, 2017, at approximately 3:15 PM, Coralville Police responded to a reported robbery at Bank of the West, 800 22nd Avenue, Coralville. A lone male entered the bank and demanded money. The offender fled with an unknown amount of cash and was last seen on foot headed north from the bank. No one was injured.

During the investigation police received information about a suspicious gray colored Ford Crown Victoria with Missouri license plates seen leaving the area immediately following the robbery. An attempt to locate the car was broadcast to all Iowa police agencies.

At 4:01 PM, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office located the car eastbound at the 287mm and took both occupants into custody without incident.  Property believed to be related to the robbery was visible in the vehicle. Coralville detectives are on their way to the scene of the stop and more information will be released as it becomes available. The investigation is continuing.

The Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center, Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol are assisting in this investigation.
